Only an individual debtor may apply to pay the filing fee in installments.  At the time the debtor files the voluntary petition, the debtor must file Official Form 103 Application for Individuals to Pay the Filing Fee in Installments ("Application").


Beginning June 1, 2018, when an attorney represents the debtor, in addition to the Application, the attorney must also file a statement disclosing any fees paid by the debtor to debtor’s counsel using the new local form MSSB-LR-1006-1 Disclosure of Pre-Petition Fees Paid by Debtor to Debtor's Counsel.  Click here for more information.


Note: A non-individual debtor may not pay the filing fee in installments.




  • Voluntary Petition - Part 2 #8 (page 3) indicates the debtor needs to pay the fee in installments.

  • Debtor is an individual.

  • Official Form 103A - Completed and executed by the debtor(s) and debtor's attorney (if applicable)

  • Local Form MSSB-LR-1006-1 (if applicable) Form discloses any fees paid by the debtor to the debtor's attorney.


The debtor may apply to pay the filing fee in up to four installments with the last payment to be made no later than 120 days from the petition file date.

Filing an Amended Application


  1. File the amended application using the above docket event; and

  2. Select "Amended" from the drop down prefix box.
